Open Accountant is an open-source, privacy-first AI bookkeeper that runs entirely on your computer. It imports bank statements, categorizes transactions with local AI, and generates financial reports — without sending any data to the cloud.
Unlike cloud-based bookkeeping tools, Open Accountant stores all financial data in a local SQLite database on your machine. It's designed for developers, freelancers, and privacy-conscious users who want AI-powered financial analysis without the surveillance. The CLI (Wilson) is free and MIT-licensed; specialized skills (tax prep, cash flow forecasting, contractor tracking) are available via pay-per-use micropayments or a Skills Pack subscription.
